Roy Sharpe

was Captain of the Frenchay 1st XI.

He wrote, in 1946, I was born on the Common almost within a stone's throw of the wicket. My father was a regular playing member before me, having been Vice-captain of the 1st XI and, in his later years, Captain of the 2nd XI. Naturally I was brought up in the correct atmosphere, often, as a lad, travelling to away matches in wagonette, or horse-brake, or perched on the front of his cycle.
