Whiteshill School – 1910

The school at that time was situated behind the Congregational Chapel on Whites Hill Common, and moved to the new Hambrook School on the other side of Whites Hill Common shortly after this picture was taken.

Levi Luff, the Headmaster, is seen here on the right. The teacher on the left, we think, is his wife Constance Luff.

Other teachers in these early days were...

Miss Martha Pendock, Bertha Bowen, Elsie Bryant and Miss Cohen, who lived until she was 109 and is buried at Coalpit Heath.
