Hambrook School – c1898

The school at that time was situated behind the Congregational Chapel on Whites Hill Common.

The staff in 1898 consisted of:

the Master, Levi Luff, born 5th May 1861, took charge of school in September 1885, Certified Teacher;

Constance Marion Luff, nee Fernee, born 22nd May 1859, Levi’s wife, Certified Teacher;

Martha Pendock, Infant Mistress, commenced duties 29th April 1878, proposed for Pupil Teacher in January 1880.

Elsie Turner, Pupil Teacher, qualified and left in March 1898 to take up a post at Mangotsfield Infant School.

Edith E Wakefield, Pupil Teacher 4th year, left in December 1898 to go to Uffington National School.
