The Americans at Frenchay Hospital...

Evelyn Harwood Schmale,

Now living in Ann Arbor, Michigan, Eve was the Assistant Field Director of the Red Cross Unit at the 298th General Hospital from 1942-1944.

On returning to the United States, she became married to Dr Herbert T Schmale, who was also with the 298th GH  in Europe. They have two sons.

Eve returned to the States in July 1945 as American Red Cross casework supervisor, was assigned to Dibble General Hospital in Menlo Park, California, for five months. After her marriage to Dr Herbart Schmale they returned to Ann Arbor, where Eve was on the Board of Directors of Child and Family Service in Ann Arbor, MI.

Now a volunteer Peer Counsellor, Geriatric Department, U of MI, Medical Center, Chairman and program planner for Senior Citizens' Low Vision Support Group, she is legally blind due to injury suffered in 1964.
